Specialist neurological occupational therapy — enabling individuals to achieve their full potential by removing the barriers between them and the activities, roles and routines that matter most in their daily life.
"OT takes a whole-person approach to both physical and mental health — enabling individuals to achieve their full potential and live as independently as they choose."
Therapy focused on the activities that make life meaningful.
Occupational Therapy takes a whole-person approach to both physical and mental health and wellbeing — enabling individuals to achieve their full potential. Our OTs provide practical support to help people facilitate recovery and overcome any barriers that prevent them from doing the activities that matter to them.
Whether that is personal care and dressing, preparing meals, returning to work, engaging in leisure activities or simply moving safely around the home — occupational therapy bridges the gap between clinical recovery and real life. We aim to increase functional independence and satisfaction in all aspects of living.
Meet our OT team →"We don't just focus on what patients can't do. We focus on what they want to do — and build every session around getting them there."
We encourage every patient to actively participate in setting their own goals — ensuring they are fully engaged in and invested in their rehabilitation programme
We work closely with families and carers — providing education, training and practical guidance to support the patient beyond the clinical setting
Our OTs use evidence-based information to enable individuals to re-able, rehabilitate and live as independently as they choose — nothing is done by habit alone
Our occupational therapy team offers a comprehensive suite of specialist assessments and treatments — from fine motor retraining and upper limb rehabilitation to posture, seating, community visits and home adaptations.
Specialist upper limb assessment and treatment following brain injury, stroke and neurological conditions — combining individual treatment sessions and group programmes to practise and relearn motor and sensory skills. We have access to the Bioness functional electrical stimulation (FES) device for upper limb rehabilitation, alongside custom splinting for positioning and functional hand use.
Structured practice and relearning of personal care, meal preparation, household tasks and all the activities that make up an independent daily life — using our dedicated facilities on site.
Everything we do is focused on one goal: returning the patient to the activities that matter most in their own life.
Specialist posture and seating assessments in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team — with access to a wide range of specialist seating and wheelchair options. Patients have the opportunity to trial what best meets their individual needs.
As part of discharge planning we offer home visits — advising on equipment, adaptations and environmental modifications to ensure the patient can return home safely, independently and with confidence.
We offer community visits to practise the skills learned in therapy sessions in real-world environments — building confidence in everyday settings like shops, transport, public spaces and the workplace.
Supporting patients in returning to work — including workplace assessments, liaison with employers, functional capacity evaluation and graded return-to-work programmes tailored to each individual's role and situation.
Upper limb and functional groups that provide motivating, social rehabilitation — giving patients the opportunity to practise skills alongside peers while benefiting from group encouragement and shared progress.
Assessment and provision of custom-made hand splints — for positioning, function and spasticity management following neurological injury. Each splint is made to measure and reviewed as the patient's needs change.
At Ascot Rehab, our occupational therapy facilities go beyond the therapy room. We have purpose-built environments designed to replicate the spaces patients will need to navigate when they go home — so no transition feels like a surprise.
Fully equipped independent living suites — designed to replicate a real home environment — allow patients to practise daily living skills safely before being discharged. From getting in and out of bed to using the bathroom independently, every task is practised in a real setting.
A fully equipped therapy kitchen enables patients to practise meal preparation tasks — from simple snacks to full meal cooking — rebuilding the skills and confidence needed to manage independently at home. Adapted equipment and techniques are explored as needed.
We have access to the Bioness functional electrical stimulation device for upper limb rehabilitation — stimulating muscles to improve voluntary control — alongside a range of adaptive technology and equipment for assessment and practice.
"Occupational therapy is not about what patients can't do. It is about identifying what they want to do — and systematically rebuilding every ability, skill and confidence needed to get there."
Our occupational therapists take time to truly understand your situation before making any recommendations. Here is exactly what happens — so you know what to expect from the very first appointment.
"You will leave your first session having been truly heard — with a plan that reflects your goals, your life and what independence actually means to you."
Your OT will take time to understand your medical background, daily routine, living situation, roles and — most importantly — the activities you want to get back to. This conversation shapes everything that follows.
A thorough assessment of your ability to perform daily activities — including personal care, mobility around the home, kitchen tasks, upper limb function, cognition and any specific barriers identified. Standardised tools are used to establish a clear baseline.
Goals are set together — the activities you want to achieve drive the entire programme. We do not set goals for you; we set them with you. Family members and carers are included in this process where appropriate.
Your OT outlines a personalised programme — including which facilities will be used (living suites, therapy kitchen, community), whether group or individual sessions suit your needs, and any equipment or adaptations to be explored.
OT findings are immediately shared with your full multidisciplinary team — physiotherapy, nursing, psychology and medical — ensuring that all therapy is working toward the same goals in a coordinated way.
Discharge planning begins at first assessment — home visits, equipment recommendations, community visits and carer training are built into the programme from the start so nothing is left to the last minute.

OT that works as part of one coordinated team.
Occupational therapy at Ascot Rehab is never delivered in isolation. Our OTs work as core members of the multidisciplinary team — collaborating closely with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, neuropsychologists, nurses and consultants to ensure every aspect of a patient's rehabilitation is coordinated and consistent.
We encourage every patient to actively participate in setting their own goals — because therapy that is built around what you want to achieve is therapy that works. Families and carers are included throughout, with education and training tailored to their specific needs and questions.
Our OTs use evidence-based information and standardised outcome measures — ensuring every intervention is clinically justified and every milestone is measurable.
Discharge planning starts at first assessment. Home visits, equipment, adaptations and community integration are built into the programme from day one — so the transition home is seamless.
