Our Approach

Three phases. One clear path back to your life.

01
Assess & understand

A thorough evaluation of functional ability, daily living skills and the activities that matter most — establishing a clear baseline and setting goals together with the patient and their family.

02
Rehabilitate & practise

Evidence-based OT combining individual and group sessions, specialist technology and real-life practice in our dedicated facilities — tailored to each person's goals and stage of recovery.

03
Plan & prepare

Discharge planning from day one — home visits, equipment, adaptations, community practice and carer training, so the transition home is confident and safe.

The Discipline

Therapy focused on the activities that make life meaningful.

Occupational Therapy takes a whole-person approach to both physical and mental health and wellbeing — enabling individuals to achieve their full potential. Our OTs provide practical support to help people facilitate recovery and overcome any barriers that prevent them doing the activities that matter most to them.

Whether that is personal care, preparing meals, returning to work or moving safely around the home — OT bridges the gap between clinical recovery and real life.

1
Getting to know you

Your OT listens — to your medical background, daily routine, living situation, roles and the activities you want to get back to. This conversation shapes everything that follows.

2
Functional assessment

A thorough assessment of your ability to perform daily activities — personal care, mobility, kitchen tasks, upper limb function and cognition. Standardised tools establish a clear baseline.

3
Collaborative goal-setting

Goals are set together — the activities you want to achieve drive the entire programme. We do not set goals for you; we set them with you. Family members and carers are included where appropriate.

4
Programme design

Your OT outlines a personalised programme — which facilities will be used, whether group or individual sessions suit your needs, and any equipment or adaptations to be explored.

5
MDT communication

OT findings are immediately shared with your full multidisciplinary team — ensuring physiotherapy, nursing, psychology and medical care all work toward the same goals in a coordinated way.

6
Discharge planning from day one

Home visits, equipment recommendations, community visits and carer training are built into the programme from the start — so nothing is left to the last minute.

Our Model

OT that works as part of one coordinated team.

Occupational therapy at Ascot Rehab is never delivered in isolation. Our OTs work as core members of the multidisciplinary team — collaborating daily with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, neuropsychologists, nurses and consultants.

Person-Centred

Goals set with the patient — not for them. Every intervention is clinically justified and explained in plain terms.

Family Included

Families and carers are educated and trained from day one — ensuring progress in therapy transfers into daily life at home.

Evidence-Based

Standardised outcome measures used throughout every programme — clear, objective data on ADL progress and function.

Discharge Ready

Home visits, adaptations and community practice built in from the first session — transition home is planned, not rushed.
